God's Not Dead

Tonight at youth group we watched the movie "God's Not Dead" to kickstart the new year. Today I have decided to talk about something that I haven't really talked about on this blog, faith. It's not that I don't want to, it's that many times when someone says they are a Christian, society judges you before they listen to your own personal beliefs.

Oh, also the denomination I follow is Methodism.

For me it's fairly simple; I believe in God and that His son Jesus came to die on Earth for everyone's sins. As a follower of Christ, it's my responsibility to share my Lord and Savior with everybody that I come in contact with. I believe the way to heaven is believing in God and that his Son, who never sinned, came to save every single sinner/person on the earth.
As stated in John 3:16-For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. But John 3:17 is just as important- For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

The most life changing moments of my life have occurred on my mission trips. I have been on three: two to Joplin, Missouri, and one to Memphis, Tennessee. This summer my youth group is going to Tulsa, Oklahoma. We go to men's homeless shelters, the Boy's and Girl's Club, and boy's ranches. The people in the homeless shelters have so little yet they have so much because they have God and it radiates from them.

At church we just kicked off my favorite sermon series (which we did last year as well) called "I Am Second" and they are videos in which people share their testimony. These videos have, again, made a huge impact in my life. I will link the "I Am Second" YouTube channel down below for you all to check out. These videos include everyone from ex-rockstars, to actresses, and beyond. The stories are filmed spectacularly, part of the reason I love the series is because it deals with filming (my YouTube nerd-eness is showing) life-changing moments in people's lives.

That being said, I do not hate ANYBODY, I don't care if you're straight or gay, or whatever, because as a sinner myself it is not my place to judge anyone. It is God's sole responsibility to judge people. We as Christians are supposed to love anyone and everyone, and hating on a certain people for who they love goes against God's instructions to love everyone. And I know there are extremely traditional people out there who want to tell me I'm wrong (and maybe I am, but again it's all in God's hands) but I am going to love everyone as He calls me to do.

I wish that when I tell people that I'm a Christian people would let me explain that I don't hate certain people and that I truly am an open person. If people were to put some of their judgmental ways aside I feel that more people could come into the faith and recognize the power of Christ.

I'm going to post a ton of links below that may better explain myself and my faith.

Until next time,
Taylor xx
