The scoop
Scotland gives every newborn a free Baby Box packed with essentials: clothes, a sleeping bag, a digital thermometer, a bib and more. The box itself comes with a fitted mattress and bedding, so it can be used as a safe place for your baby to sleep.
There's even an offer to try reusable nappies. Twins and triplets each get their own box.
How to claim it
- 1
Register with a midwife while living in Scotland.
- 2
Your midwife fills in the Baby Box registration card with you at your 18–20 or 28 week appointment.
- 3
Your midwife sends the card off, so there's nothing else to do.
